This economy is wild, to put it simply. Regardless of tax bracket, most are in search of low-lift ways to trim the fat from their household budget. One personal adjustment I made towards the end of 2023 is switching from ShopRite to Aldi and I couldn’t be more elated with my decision. By way of this minor tweak, I’ve shaved nearly $100 off our monthly grocery bill without compromising quality.

I started apprehensively, not sure what to expect from a quality standpoint. Week after week, I grew more impressed with Aldi’s products. So much so, that I decided to give Aldi’s baby brand, Little Journey, a try. Little Journey has the typical offerings: diapers, wipes, baby wash and shampoo, lotion, organic baby food, and training pants.

To begin, we tried Little Journey Sensitive Skin Baby Wipes. They were so impressive that we use them exclusively. My daughter has extremely sensitive skin and we haven’t had a single issue. This mom win made me curious about their diapers. We tested them out for approximately one month. Here’s what I observed:

Cost

The first thing that is always going to jump out about any Aldi product is the price. I was able to purchase 100 size 3 diapers for $13.19. That price alone made me feel like it’s worth a shot because if they turned out to be sub par, I wouldn’t feel bad about wasting an absorbent amount of money on them. That said, the price is also what makes most people skeptical. After all, how good could a diaper be when it’s being sold for 13 cents per unit? Keep reading to find out.

Material

At first glance, you can tell that the Little Journey diapers are made of high-quality material. They don’t look like fuzzy and ratty like discount-brand diapers. When held up next to leading brand diapers, there’s no real difference.

Blowouts

Blowouts were not an issue for us when we used this diaper. I don’t recall having a single blowout during the one-month trial period.

Absorbancy

Okay, here’s where the issue came in. The only thing that concerned me about these diapers was their ability to hold up overnight. In the mornings, after maybe 9 hours of sleep, we frequently experienced leaks. The snap part of her onesie was often damp and her bottom was also somewhat damp. However, I wouldn’t knock this brand for that reason alone. I experienced similar issues with Pampers Baby Dry and Honest Diapers and Little Journey diapers only cost a fraction of these. I also want to note that I did not experience leaks during the daytime, likely because during the day, she is changed approximately every two hours.

The Verdict

Little Journey diapers are solid at best, and decent at worst. I found them to be a great diaper and I am not opposed to continuing using them. My only recommendation would be to use a different brand, such as Huggies Snug & Dry as an overnight diaper.
